This is an illustration for a short story about the courage of a small, humble Glowfly (a butterfly with glowing wings) that inspires an Angel to follow her dreams, no matter how insignificant or silly they may seem. I was inspired to create this piece, along with the story by a warm and generous person right here in Elfwood. I was also hesitant to follow my dreams and lacked the courage, at first to apply myself to them. Now that is not so much of a problem and I hope to continue down this very exciting path.

You can now read the story here.

Thanks, Glo! This one's for you!

I feel that way About Glo too2 she has an ability to help others see things they can do, no matter how silly it may seem2 She’s always there2 hehe, i hope she reads this comment some day 1 2 I’m getting warm fuzzies all over2 You are Phenomenal!

11 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Thank you so much!

It’s kinda funny how I can struggle over a pic that I’m drawing for myself, but when a pic is inspired by the kindness and generosity of another, the image just flows right out of me. Some of my best work has come from the beneficence of other people.

This pic is a testament to friendship as a whole. I am truly blessed to know so many amazing people. *hugs*"

3 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Awww. Thank you very much! I’ve gotten better with wings since this pic, but I still wouldn’t change a thing about it. 1"

If you ever have the inspiration to draw a pic of Amolas, I would love to see it 2 I bet his wings would look amazing.

:-) Barbara J. Wickham replies: "If the muse makes an appearance, you’ll be the first to know. "

That would be really cool 2

:-) Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Bear with me. I’m pretty slammed right now, but one never knows when the inspiration bug might bite."

aww the little glo bug is too cute...i suppose i should read the story....it sounds cute.....you did a nice job on this one...it look really good 2

:-) Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Thanks! The story is short and sweet and an easy read. I hope you like it.

My main focus was the pic, not the story and I am still very happy with how it came out. I’m trying a similar glow effect in one of the pics I’m working on right now, but it’s not turing out so great. *sigh*"

I haven’t commented on this one yet? Shame on me. I’m such a terrible elfwood friend 8 Anyway, I love how this one looks as if it could have come right off of the wall of one of the Catholic Churches in Italy! It has a certain feel to it that shows the artists has deep emotions while painting it 2

:-) Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Awwww. You are so not a bad elfwood friend! We would all like to spend more time on elfwood, looking at everyone’s art. I always feel like I’m playing catch-up, but the important thing is that we get to commenting as best we can with the time we have available. Eh? 12

I am extremely flattered by your comparison! I love art history, at least the pictures if not the tests on dates and names and such, and some of the grand work in the European churches just has me in awe.

I feel unworthy. Thank you."
