I met this chap in a smoky tavern one day. He’ll talk you’re ear off if you keep supplying the ale. One thing I noticed ‘bout him is that it takes a lot of self-confidence and a spunky attitude to be a Barbarian…and to strut around in fuzzy britches!

*Done in the early 90’s this guy was inspired by my favorite barbarian. Can you guess who? I was going for attitude and I think I got it! He-he.

I'm Guessing it's a really pissed off Heman.
Could be a Frazzeta style Conan but then again if you read the original Robert E.Howad books, there is no mension of fuzzy underdacks anywhere.
Still tiz a classic image you got here, I really am quite impressed.

22 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "  I've seen your work! If you're impressed, I'm impressed that you're impressed! Yeah! Seriously, I never had the privilege of reading Howard's Conan which I should probably remedy soon, but I loved the comics. Don't ask me who wrote or illustrated them for I must shamefully admit that I can't remember. It was many years ago. Loved the first movie tho. The sequel had a few classic moments but was otherwise very disappointing. Anyway, just think of this guy as a conglomeration of all my favorite Barbarians and other buff heros. The fuzzy britches are just my own personal preference. Ahem...nuff said. Thanks again and take care!"

Color him color him!!!! He wants to b colored. That is y he is all pissed off looking!!, but ne way this is a great pic its really detialed. Now im gonna go view the rest of ur pics *****walks off whistling****

21 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Thanks, laura! Color will be coming soon. Soon enough to prevent my friend here from clubbing me with a barstool! Mmmm...I think I'll make his hair easter egg pink! *SMACK* Ouch! Just Kidding!"

*laf* yeah, here's attitude all the way! Gotta love that glare 10

Besides, I'd like to take him with me home! 12 How much more ale will it take?

19 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "  He's almost pouting, isn't he. This one gets weepy when he drinks too much ale so baiting him with a nice protein shake might work better. I also must admit a weakness for big-haired, bicep-bulging, burly-men. I love it when they are soooooo big that they can't even put their arms down to their sides properly. He-he-he. Gets me every time! BTW, I will put up a color version of him on my next upload. Thanks again for a most welcome visit, Inger!"

I like this pic, and yes he does look like he's got some attitude. He looks like a gladiator.
By the way my other comments on u'r pics, have been a bit boring and childish, sorry! ;D

18 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Yep! Barbarians have always been a farvorite of mine. I'm afraid this guy would not make a good gladiator; he wouldn't be caught dead in a leather skirt! *grin* P.S. I don't see anything wrong with your comments. They are all nice and very flattering! Further, I never take myself seriously, so neither should you!! *hugs*"

FUZZY BRITCHES!? I WANT FUZZY BRITCHES!!! Especially for this year's winter. I'm betting, with the rising gas prices, we're going to ration our oil, along with many others. But yeah, he better be confident to fight in FUzzy briefs, never mind go out in public. Embarrassment? BE DANGED!!!

I'm now writing about four stories at once now. One is actually Picking my attention quite well, for a dream, where whomever sends me inspiration, who decided to send me it on a plane...Not sure if it was the altitude getting to me or not...^_^ Since I tried top make it seem Very-near-future, as in ten-twenty years, some people may see it as being very possible...Now that I think of it, can you do a preview for me? I'll send it to you if you can. I mean, I think I left a gap that needs to be filled, but I dunno if it'll make it suspenseful or just make people scrtach heads, and Johnny just scratches his head all the time... If Yes, Ill get it to you ASAP

18 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Fuzzy britches provide about as much warmth and security as a cranky weasel, but hey they are very fashion-forward. Barbarians are never very practical, especially when it comes to accessorizing. Gotta love 'em!

Wow! You be the write'n fool! Four at once? Have you gone mad?! Mad?!! *snort*

If you want to send a preview my way I'll be more than happy to read it. Thank you for the honor!"

But where does he keep his loose change? I'm guessing he just intimidates people into buying him drinks, so no need for pockets. Love him. 2

18 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "*LOL!* I've never asked him that particular question but he does jingle a bit when he walks...

Thanks for the great comment on my beloved barbarian!"

WOW! even for just a "sketch" this is a very powerful piece and I don't mean just because he is muscled (ohhhh, sooo muscled). *wipes the drool off the keyboard*

I would suggest I guess when you color him (if not already done) make sure you check out Boris Vallejo the style of the drawing is very similar to his, and that style of color would be absolutely 'licious.

Do you work from photo, live model, or imagination?

18 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Mmmm. Yes. Muscles... *lol* If I recall correctly, my pencil developed quite a pronounced blush whilst scribbling out this fellow. He he he.

I do very much admire Vallejo's painting style, but my hero of all time is Frank Frazetta. I think that either artist would be a great inspiration for how to finish this brute off. I do have a color version but it's pretty old and I was still new to computer coloring. An updated version is much, much overdo... *sigh*

I create my figures with many different sources of reference, including all that you mentioned. In fact, I took a life drawing series shortly after drawing this guy and I was abjectly horrified at how un-heroic real models actually are. *lol* It was a valuable learning experience, to say the least.

For this guy I used comic book illustrations for the pose and frame and my imagination for the "embellishments". XD"

Yea for muscles! Thanks for the eye candy... *haha* (He needs a little smile on his face) Nice work as always, Barb. He actually looks like he's going to kick someone's butt in.

12 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Hey, no problem. I'm always happy to please my viewers. *he he he* I've asked him to smile for the audience many times but I think he wants to maintain his rep as a hard case. Oh well... Barbarians; what can one do?

Hey! Perhaps if I draw a feather in the pic then the viewer can give him a tickle? That might produce at least a twitch of a smile, eh? *lol*

Thanks for the fun comment, Audrey! "

This guy reminds me of my friend’s DnD character 14 He was a fighter/farmer that was crazy enough to jump off of a suspended bridge just to slice some orcs climbing the cliff sides in half 2

:-) Barbara J. Wickham replies: "I think everyone has a barbarian in fuzzy britches inside of them, trying to get out. The trick is to only let just a little of him out at a time... especially when one is driving in rush hour traffic. Eeep!"
